World of Warcraft: PvP

degtiarWorld of Warcraft: PvP – 3v3 Arena 4 (2008)

The arenas are part of a Player-versus-player(PvP) system implemented in World of Warcraft after it was first released. This system offers a more competitive and rank-based experience with the sole objective of having two pre-organized teams of two, three, or five players fight against each other until everyone on one team is defeated. Teams have a rating that changes based on wins and losses. This rating is also used to automatically choose teams of similar strength to pit against each other. This system, which becomes available once a player reaches the highest level (70) in The Burning Crusade expansion, presents a more intensive team competition option than the Battlegrounds.

This footage was captured as part of the Preserving Virtual Worlds project by the How They Got Game group at Stanford University.

In this match, our 3v3 team Grassburners, composed of a Warlock, Shaman, and Shadowpriest, are pitted again a Mage, Warlock, and Druid in the Blade’s Edge Arena.
