World of Warcraft Account Gets Hacked – Associated Content
When One Paladin Gets Robbed, a Guild Fights Back When a level 60 Paladin’s account is viscously hacked just before release of the Burning Crusade, his guild begins a mission to get his stuff back!
Aelric FitzWilliam, level 60 Human Paladin from Proudemoore server was a daily World of Warcraft fan. Having played since beta, part of a regular guild of close friends and even real
life friends, he enjoyed the game to the max. One day that seemed just like any other day, after saying goodnight to his in-game friends, he logged off his account and went to bed. He awoke the next day to an unpleasant surprise.
An Unsuspecting Attack
Later that evening, long-time guild mates and friends saw his character log on again. This was a bit unusual as he kept a pretty regular and predictable playing time. What was even more unusual was when he did not join the guild’s private friends channel and would not respond to tells and whispers, not even from the guild master and long-time close friend. Immediately friends knew something was up but there was little they could do to stop it.
Prior to this invasion, Aelric was packing a pretty impressive closet of gear. As an officer and long time member of Zealots of Cloister (the raiding sub-guild of Disciples of Cloister from Proudmoore, US Server), some of his notable gear included Judgement Crown, Judgement Spaulders, Judgement Breastplate, Judgement Gauntlets, Judgement Belt, Judgement Legplates,Judgement Bindings,Judgement Sabatons, as well as numerous other epic items from high-end instances. In addition to full Judgement, Aelric was wearing Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros which is not easily attainable and the entire guild actually had a combined effort in helping him get this legendary item.
In addition to the above as well as other gear on Aelric, he had 1-hand weapons (Mageblade, Aurastone, Hexxer), 5 shields, Tier 1, Resist gear, countless consumables and trade items, twenty-some bags, one thousand four hundred gold and change, and gear, gold and items on at least 8 other characters on his account.
In short: he was wiped clean.
