Dalaran :: Zones :: World of Warcraft :: ZAM
The citadel Dalaran is a city-state once found in the Alterac Mountains. It has since been moved by the Kirin Tor and now hovers over Crystalsong Forest.
Contents [hide] History
Ruled over by the Kirin Tor, it has recently been relocated to its new home in the icy lands of Northrend. This beautiful metropolis was one of the original seven kingdoms of the long ago days of the Nation of Arathor.
Horde and Alliance
There are two distinct areas catering to both Horde and Alliance in Dalaran.
For the Alliance: The westernmost section of the city is where the Silver Brigade can be found. Here, Alliance players entering the citadel will want to head West by Southwest until they see the Alliance symbol flanked by two Silvver brigade guards. Entering this area, players may join battlegrounds such as Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley, or use the many available portals to travel to old world and outlands cities such as the City of Ironforge and Stormwind City.
For the Horde: Horde players entering the citadel will want to head North from Krasus’ Landing and look to their right for the Sunreaver’s Sanctuary. In this area, you will find portals to many different cities, such as Orgrimmar, Shattrath City and The Undercity, as well as a variety of battlegrounds portals to places like Arathi basin and Eye of the Storm.
Geography
Dalaran is located to the north of The Dragonblight and is only accessible by players over level 74, via a summon or a mage portal to the city initially. However, there are several other ways one can get to the city:
- Mages can talk to NPCs in The Dragonblight and learn to teleport to Dalaran after completing Attunement to Dalaran, which is available to them at level 71.
- At level 74, Mages can learn a portal to Dalaran at 74 from their respective portal trainers. This allows anyone to get to Dalaran.
- Anyone who is at least level 74 can complete The Magical Kingdom of Dalaran from any of several members of the Kirin Tor, which will portal them to Dalaran once.
- Once in Dalaran, Learning to Leave and Return: the Magical Way can be obtained by characters level 70 or higher which “attunes” you to Dalaran. Once this quest is done, you can return any time via the Teleport to Dalaran Crystal from Crystalsong Forest.
Portals to Azeroth and Outland
After the release of the new expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, new portals have been opened in Dalaran giving easy access to capital cities for both Horde and Alliance as well as access to Shattrath City. While there is a level limit to gain access to the zone, low-level players can pay for the services of either a Mage or a Warlock to summon or teleport them here.

This is ofc all speculation, but I suspect many people will leave their characters logged out in Outlands most of the time. I’m assuming that there will be linked auction houses in the Alliance/Horde outposts, which means there’s little motivation for them to return “home” to IF/Org. Some will probably want to attend
